243 Winchester Reloading Specifications:
Bullet Diameter - .243"
Maximum Case Length - 2.045"
Trimmed Case Length - 2.035"
Primer Size - Large Rifle
Maximum Cartridge Overall Length - 2.710".

243 Winchester Bullet Weights:
The 243 Winchester centerfire rifle cartridge is a bottle-necked cartridge case design based on the 308 Winchester brass necked down to accept .243" diameter bullets. Winchester introduced this cartridge to the shooting public in the year 1955. When introduced this cartridge was only available in two bullet weights, 80 grain and 100 grain. The 80 grain bullet was designed for use on varmints and predators. The 100 grain bullet was designed for use on deer such as black-tailed deer, mule deer and white-tailed deer. Common bullet weights that are available today from noted bullet manufacturers such as; Barnes, Hornady, Nosler and Sierra for reloaders are as follows; 55, 58, 60, 62, 65, 68, 70, 72, 75, 80, 85, 87, 90, 95, 100, 105 and 107 grain.

243 Winchester Reloading Data:
For the Antelope, Hog, Blacktail, Whitetail or Mule Deer hunter hand-loading or reloading his or her own 243 Winchester ammunition, Accurates Magpro rifle powder does an impressive job of launching 100 grain .243" diameter bullets at high velocity. Accurates online reloading data shows that a 100 grain .243 diameter Sierra Boat-Tail Gameking bullet using 45.2 grains of Magpro powder can be driven to a velocity of 2,861 feet per second, loaded at a maximum length of 2.650". This load does not top out until the 100 grain bullet is at 3,107 feet per second in the 243 Winchester at a chamber pressure of 59,880 PSI. For the 100 grain bullet reload if you sighted your 243 Winchester deer rifle in dead on at 225 yards it would only be 2 inches high at 150 yards and only 2.9 inches low at 275 yards which would be an excellent deer load, this load still produces enough bullet energy at 350 yards to take deer with 1,235 foot pounds.
