25-06 Remington History and General Information. The 25-06 remington originally was a wildcat cartridge first introduced by A.O.Niedner in 1920 based on 30/06 brass necked down to .257 caliber, it was adopted by remington and introduced to the public in a remington model 700 rifle in 1969.
The 25-06 remington is a dual purpose cartridge it can be used for varmints sending a 75 gr. bullet out the muzzle at a sizzling 3,700 fps., making this a good varmint round or it can be used as a big game cartridge sending 120 grain bullets out the muzzle at speeds of 3,100 fps., it has sufficient power out to the 400 yard mark for deer sized game animals.
The 25-06 remington with the power it offers down range will also recoil somewhat to the shooters shoulder but is still quite pleasant to shoot.
