Bow Tuning:
By fine tuning your bow you can vastly improve your accuracy or arrow grouping when using any arrowhead especially broadheads and give yourself more exacting shot placement on animals when bowhunting.

Proper Arrow Selection:
Always select the correct weight of arrow for your draw length and bow draw weight. It is possible to select to heavy of a shaft and therefore your arrow may fly correctly but will lose velocity quickly. It is possible to select to light of a shaft and therefore your arrow will flex wildly and may not fly correctly plus lose velocity.

There are two node points on the arrow shaft, one in the front and the other in the back. If your arrow is bending to much by the node points it is to weak, if it bends to little it is to strong. We want to get this bending by the node points just right, not to weak and not to strong.

The more an arrow bends the faster it loses its flight power. If on the other hand your arrow is bending to little your arrow is obviously to strong and again it loses flight power too soon because of the arrow weight reducing velocity.

Bare Shaft Test:
With a bare shaft test you can find your correct nocking point height and proper plunger tension thus correcting and truing arrow flight. For these tests you will need a target set exactly 20 feet from your shooting position, 3 fully fletched arrows and one bare shaft arrow (no fletching).

1. Correct Nocking Heigth:
 a. Shoot the fletched arrows first using great care as to use the same release for all. If you have a fairly small grouping, shoot the bare shaft arrow and note whether it higher or lower than the fletched arrows. Repeat this test 3 times, if results are the same make adjustments if neccessary.
 b. If the unfletched arrow hits above the fletched arrows your nocking point is too low. If the unfletched arrow hits below the fletched arrows the nocking point level is high. Set your nocking point accordingly and do the test again. Repeat the test several times to get reliable results.

2. Proper Plunger Tension:
 a. Shoot the fletched arrows first using great care as to use the same release for all. If you have a fairly small grouping, shoot the bare shaft arrow and note whether it hit left or right of the fletched arrows. Repeat this test 3 times, if results are the same make adjustments if neccessary.
 b. If the unfletched arrow hits right of the fletched arrows your plunger spring tension is to low and the arrows fly to weak. Increase the tension on your plunger. If the unfletched arrow hits left of the fletched arrows your plunger spring tension is to high and the arrows fly to strong. Decrease the tension on your plunger.

Note: When adjusting the plunger in or out do so using only 1/4 turn at a time. Repeat the test several times to get reliable results.
